PESTER, POKE, GIGGLE

One of the greatest joys of being a mother is being able to irritate, pester if you will, my child.

It is sick I know, but it is me.

I’m good at pestering.

Really good!

Just ask my mom, or my dad, or my siblings or…well…anyone who knows me.

But most of all… ask my nine year old.

This is her life, the one she has been dealt, the one she must endure, all because she was born of my loins.

Her: That smells good mom, what is that smell?
Me: Dinner
Her: What is for dinner?
Me: Food
Her: Moooom, what kind of food.
Me: Well, some meat, some veggies, some type of fruit. Ya know,(pause) food.
Her: Mooooooooom would you just tell me what you are cooking.
Me: Dinner
Her Moooooooooooooom, geez

It is the “mooooooooom” reaction that I am waiting for. I love it, I thrive on it. It is what gives me the giggles and makes my world a happy place.

I just love to pester her, but ya know, she loves it too. It is part of our relationship, it is part of US.

She climbs in bed on Saturday mornings just waiting for me to wake up and pester her….no kidding….she does.

She waits for me to make spiders or bees out of my hands and attack her while she tries to “kill” my spider or “swat” my bee. She will giggle and wiggle and swat away while I tickle and giggle and make my world a happy place.

There are times though when my pestering evokes eye rolls from her, but even those times are fun for her too….well, at least I tell myself that.

Like when she has on a polka dot shirt and I just can’t help myself.

Really I can’t… and I know you see this one coming from a mile away….but I have to poke……every single stinking DOT on her clothes.

“moooooooooooom” she says as she wiggles away…”stop mom…mom geez, stop.” Then she giggles and pokes me back… and my world is a happy place.

Or when I sing at the top of my lungs and start dancing in the kitchen to her ipod songs while her friends are watching.
“Moooooooom, geez you are weird.” *eye roll*

Her friends tell her she has a cool mom, she tells them she has a weird mom. She will say “She even dances in the stores.” Her friends tell her they wish their moms danced and sang and giggled with them like her mom does.

And she says “Yeah, but she is sooooo weird.”

Which is true…I pretty much act weird everywhere.

Because, well, I pretty much AM weird.

And I love it.

RODEO

Last night we went to the Rodeo. It has been something like 15 years since I have been to a Rodeo and Emmi has never been.

We saw lots of this...

I was kind of shocked that I would like the bull riding because I remembered not liking it at the last rodeo. But this was my favorite part of the rodeo.

And some of this... lots of this...lots of roping

and the little kids doing the mutton busting had me laughing.

Emmi and I had a blast at the Rodeo. And the cowboys weren't bad to stare at either.

Yeeeehaaaw

CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER PIE

Another family favoite for you today. This is my BIL's favorite pie and he begs for it all the time. I'm giving it to you today.

And it is so very easy and fast to make.

CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER PIE
1 Grahm Cracker Crust ( or you can make your own by smashing graham crackers and mixing with butter)
1/2 Cup Peanut Butter- Creamy
4 oz container of Whipped Cream Chease
2/3 Cup Powdered Sugar
4 Tbsp Milk
1.5 oz Chocolate Pudding mix
1 3/4 Cup Milk (for pudding mix)

In a bowl, combine Peanut Butter, Cream Chease, Powdered Sugar and the 4 T of Milk.

After mixing, place in the bottom of the crust.

Mix Chocolate Pudding with 1 3/4 C Milk. Stir well so that no lumps remain. Wait a minute until the pudding starts to thicken then pour over the peanut butter in the pie crust.

Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Top with Cool Whip and serve.

NEW ROOM

Does anyone remember these pictures?

pretty bad huh? Back in the fall I painted the walls a creamy yellow and got rid of the gold stripes and the gold baseboards.

I also ran out of money so I couldn't finish the room. OOps

So this past month I have been working on finishing the room. I was determined to have the room be a green, yellow, and dark red color scheme... well it didn't work out quite that way. No matter what I looked at in those colors I just didn't like it. I struggled for weeks and weeks about those colors.

Finally I decided to find curtains that I liked and work from that.

Emmi chose these dark brown panels with polka dots of brown, yellow, green, and blue.

I have always hated the color blue in a home.

Blue/grey....fine... but Blue....NO no no!

So at the time I told her I didn't like them and we kept looking...only to come back weeks later and buy those panels.

So then I looked at pillows to match those curtains and found the beautiful things on my couch. I paid an arm for them, but I fell in love. After those pillows the room just seemed to fall into place.

I'm mostly done, except the cubby with my computer. That will take a bit longer to do because I need to buy a new desk and shelving and such. But I am so very happy with what we have done so far.

OLD MEMORIES

Remember the days of the old photo booths? My friends and I LOVED those things. It was almost as if we went to K-Mart just for those booths. Because why else would you go to K-mart (sorry Martha Stewart).

Emmi and I were walking in the mall this weekend having a little mommy and me time and happened upon a photo booth. AND GUESS WHAT? You actually got to choose between Black and White, Color or Sepia. And the other freaking cool thing was that it gave you two sets of matching pictures, so no more arguing over who got what picture. (man did me and my friends argue).

So I couldn't help myself, we had to take two sets of pictures. One in Color and one in Sepia.

It was a great trip down memory lane. I'm going to have to search for my old pictures from my teenage years now.
